If there
was any doubt that age is catching up on
Cantopop veteran Alan Tam (pictures), his Above and Beyond
Concert 2002 on Christmas Day would have dispelled
it. |
|
Instead of
telling us age is not catching up as the writer had
intended to do, the writer, in using an
inappropriate word - dispelled - has inadvertently
said that age is indeed catching up |
|
Lesson
learnt: we should be careful with the use of
"doubt" so as not to allow doubt to be cast on
the meaning of the sentence we make using the word
"doubt". |
