10,000 sets, this set of 17 coin replicas and
circulation coins all in the cents denominations represents
different eras in Singapore’s history. Each set is
authenticated by a serialised certificate with brief write
up on each coinage issue. |

the portrait of Queen Victoria issued in 1845 to Queen
Elizabeth II issued in 1953, 7 coin replicas featuring 7
different portraits of Kings and Queens mark the political
change in Singapore from Straits Settlements to becoming
part of Malaya and British Borneo.

Magnetic
farecards will no longer be sold or revalued from 16 Nov 2002,
Transitlink said yesterday. So far, it has refunded 3.3 million
out of more than 8.7 million farecards in circulation before the
contactless smart-card system was launched in April 2002. There
are about 3.2 million ez-link cards in circulation now. Farecards
which are issued, revalued or replaced on or after 1 Aug 2000 are
valid for refund for up to four years from the date of issue or

of Southhamton Row London went under the hammer in March to a group
of Singapore-based investors, including Goldman Sachs investment
banker John KOH and property developer and avid collector Daniel

The
2002 Year Of The Horse coins, due to be issued on Jan 9 next year
by Singapore's Board of Commissioners of Currency, come in gold,
silver and cupro-nickel and feature a paper-cut horse in the
garden of wealth. An uncirculated coin set, featuring
denominations ranging from 1 cent to S$5, and a Horse Almanac
CashCard are also available. They can be ordered from The
Singapore Mint's retail outlets at 20 Teban Gardens, Suntec City
Mall and Orchard MRT Station, and at all 7-Eleven stores. (Straits

McDonald's new
collection of Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel soft toys, dressed in
royal costumes from around the world, will be available from
Thursday 4 Jan 2001 at all its outlets, except drive-throughs,
Singapore Turf Club and Jurong Bird-Park outlets. There are six

The
Singapore Mint will mark Chinese New Year 2001 with another batch of special
coins, keeping alive a tradition begun two decades ago. The Year of the
Snake coins, the ninth in a series of Chinese Almanac coins, have been
designed by a local artist, Dr Elsie YU. The new coins, which will be
available in gold, silver, and cupro-nickel, will be available on 3 Jan
2001. The limited edition S$250 gold coin will cost S$1203.05. The S$10
silver coin will be produced as a limited edition and will cost S$97.85,
while the S$10 cupro- nickel coin will be sold at S$23.50. The mint will
also issue uncirculated Hongbao coin sets consisting of one-cent to S$5
pieces, priced at S$14.40.
