Barefoot In
The Park |
|
A romantic comedy by Neil
Simon; Directed by Ian Belton; Starring Adrian PANG, Anne Marie Falvey,
Jayani Kripalani, Sandy Philips. |
|
Presented by The Singapore
Repertory Theatre |
|
After the success of Neil
Simon's They're Playing Our Song in 1999, SRT presents another
romantic comedy from Broadway's funniest playwright. Barefoot In The
Park is what you get when Dharma & Greg meets When Harry
Met Sally. |
|
Barefoot In The Park
gives us a comical glimpse into the lives of newly-weds, Paul and Corie.
Paul is a young aspiring and stuffy lawyer, who returns from his honeymoon
with his quirky wife Corie to find she has rented an over-priced apartment
- accessible only via six steep flights of stairs. This apartment comes
with a leaking skylight, no heat and a neighbour who regularly wanders
through to get to his loft on the roof. Coupled with frequent intrusions
by an uptight mother-in-law who doesn't approve of anything, and you have
a situation that is enough to test the patience of any young man! |
|
With Adrian PANG in the lead
role, Barefoot In The Park promises lots of fun and heartwarming
moments. |

Down
The Road (Lee Blessing's) |
|
Presented
by Luna-id |
|
|
|
Down The Road -
One serial killer. Two writers. A prison cell. A motel room.
In luna-id's latest offering, artistic director Christian W.
Huber revisits Lee Blessing
in this dark tale that delves into the allure of
sensationalism, the seduction of blood and gore, as a
husband-and-wife team sets about interviewing a serial killer
to write his book. Bill Reach has killed 19 girls, or so he
claims... Down The Road by Lee Blessing takes its audience on
a road trip they may be too absorbed to turn back from. |

Footsteps
In The Night |
|
Presented
by Act 3 & Speelteater (Belgium) |
|
|
|
Footsteps In The
Night is a mystery thriller set in Singapore. It's New Year's
Eve and the father of a young boy, Tom, is accused of a series
of murders. The situation gets more complicated as the police
inspector on duty that night is also Tom's uncle. The plot
unfolds into heightened suspense when the real murderer
pursues Tom throughout the city as he tries to clear his
father's name. |
|
Originally set in
Europe, Footsteps In The Night was produced by Belgium's
Speelteater and directed by Eva Bal. Having played in four
languages, it will have a local context so that the audience
can easily relate to it. Using a mixture of live action and
film, a video wall is the link between the past and present
events. The play has a good dose of humour and will amuse
audiences. |

A contemporary comedy
exploring a topic dear to Singaporean hearts: dating and getting

families as early as the government thinks desirable but, as any
angler knows, while there are many fish in the sea, catching one
isn't easy. |

At The Head |
|
A play by Catherine
Butterfield. Presented by Luna-id. Directed by LIFE! Theatre Awards
2000 Winner for Best Director Christian W. Huber.
|
|
Featuring Kate
Naughton, Gerald CHEW, Anna Belle Francis |
|
A piece about the
friendship and lessons of life inherited by a female writer
(Maggie) upon the death of the wife (Maggy) of an ex-boyfriend
(Moulmein High's Gerald CHEW), Joined At The Head takes
us on a touching story of soul-searching and discovery into
oneself and the people around. Maggie Mulroney (played by Kate
Naughton) is a successful author who has achieved critical
acclaim for her works, but somehow, along the way, has lost
the ability to be close to anyone. She has become a detached
soul with walls built around her. It takes an unlikely friend
in Maggy (Anne Belle Francis, last seen in Club Tempest), the
dying wife of her ex-High School sweetheart, to rekindle some
warmth in her life. |

A Solo Piano Recital
by Abigail SIM
|
|
Abigail SIM
never wanted to be ordinary: at four, she decided it was
time to learn music. Those music appreciation courses she
sat through all the time charmed her into taking up piano
lessons one year later, and that proved to be the turning
point in her life. |
|
Soon after,
between 1998 and 2000, Abigail joined the ranks of young
Singaporean talents at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, and
thereafter resolved to take the next step in her pianistic
quest by submitting to the meticulous instruction of Victor
KHOR, Singapore's aristocrat of the piano. |
|
This year,
Abigail was offered a scholarship to fascinate audiences at
the inaugural International Summer School and Festival for
Pianists in Manchester, England organised by the famous
Chetham's School for prodigious youngsters. Martin Roscoe,
British doyen of the piano and Head of the Keyboard
Department at the Royal Northern College of Music, has also
taken her under his wings. |

The
Little Singers of Paris |
|
Les Petits Chanteurs a
la Croix de Bois
|
|
The Little
Singers of Paris is a choir of 28 boys, aged between 10
and 14 years old. The choir originated in France 93 years ago,
bringing sacred music into town halls and tiny parishes,
singing a repertoire of religious songs. |
|
In 1924, their
repertoire widened to include contemporary pieces of Darius
Milhaud, Florent Schmitt, Francois Poulenc and secular songs.
Since then their travels and repertoire have expanded.
Audiences from the U.S. and Canada to the Middle East and the
far-flung islands of Polynesia have been moved by the beauty
of their performances. |
|
The concert in
Singapore includes works by Mozart, Brahms, Schubert, folk
songs from France and other parts of the world. |
|
They will also be
performing several Christmas carols, including "Wsrod
Nocne J Ciszy", one of the most famous Polish Christmas
carols that the Petits Chanteurs performed for Pope John Paul
II. |
