Road Festive Lighting was launched by President Nathan on 17 Nov 2000.
The festive lights will be turned on daily from 7pm to midnight until 5
Jan 2001, except on Fridays and Saturdays, when they will stay on till
2am. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, they will stay on till 6am.

the scheme works:

Each adopted duck costs S$10. Net proceeds go to Touch Community Service.
With 100,000 ducks, it means S$1 million for charity

win S$10,000 if your yellow duck comes in first on Race Day (12 Nov 2000)
- You
win S$10,000 and the bonus of S$1 million if your red duck comes in first
- You
can also win prizes if your duck is among the first 50 to cross the
finish-line. Second prize: S$5,000, Third prize: S$3,000, 4th - 20th
