     Orchard Road Festive Lighting was launched by President Nathan on 17 Nov 2000. The festive lights will be turned on daily from 7pm to midnight until 5 Jan 2001, except on Fridays and Saturdays, when they will stay on till 2am. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, they will stay on till 6am.

     Adopt a duck at S$10 each. There are 99,000 yellow and 1,000 red rubber ducks. They will be randomly selected for you. Adopt them from 23 Sep 2000 to 29 Oct 2000 at the following places:

     - Full-time adoption centres: Promenade, all 30 eWorldofSports.com retail outlets, Singapore Press Holdings bus kiosks at The Hereen, the Embassy of Thailand and Lucky Plaza, and all Touch Community Service Centres.

     - Other centres: Wisma Atria, Shaw House, Ngee Ann City, Specialist Centre, Northpoint, Suntec City and Orchard Cineleisure.

     How the scheme works:

     - Each adopted duck costs S$10. Net proceeds go to Touch Community Service. With 100,000 ducks, it means S$1 million for charity

     - You win S$10,000 if your yellow duck comes in first on Race Day (12 Nov 2000)

     - You win S$10,000 and the bonus of S$1 million if your red duck comes in first
