PaintBallAsia.com  has everything you need to know about a new game in Singapore in which two groups shoot at each other with guns firing paintballs (small spheres containing water-soluble dye). Great fun. You can play this game at Orchid Country Club. It is open to the public. Charges are S$15 each for members of the public and S$10 for club members. Paintballs cost between S$10 and S$400 for between 20 and 2500 paintballs.

The National Parks Board allows families to pitch tents for overnight camping at five of its coastal parks - the ones at Changi beach, East Coast, Pasir Ris, Sembawang and West Coast. Last year, 10,305 camping permits were issued, compared to 7,589 in 2000 and 6,442 in 1999. It was only five years ago that NParks relaxed its rules about overnight camping and made it legal. Each camping permit is good for up to three nights, the most popular days being weekends and school holidays. (Straits Times 10 May 2002) (H12)

From Monday 18 Dec 2000, fishing enthusiasts can fish at three more reservoirs - MacRitchie, Peirce and Upper Seletar. Now they can do so only at Kranji and Lower Seletar reservoirs, as well as Jurong Lake. Each new fishing area will be marked by a signboard. At MacRitchie reservoir, the fishing spot is accessible from the footpath near the Lornie-Thomson road junction bus-stop. At Upper Seletar, the area is by the carpark along Mandai Road. Anglers going to Lower Peirce should approach along Old Upper Thomson Road. A footpath at the end of the road leads to the fishing ground. (Straits Times 15 Dec 2000)
