National Day Parade 2005 - Mobile Column

This year's National Day Parade will feature the Mobile Column. Like previous parades that were held at the Padang, the more than 200-vehicle strong mobile column will pass City Hall after the Parade and Ceremony Segment of NDP.
This is the fifth time the Mobile Column will be featured during the NDP. After passing City Hall, the Mobile Column will split and continue along three routes deep into the heartlands of Singapore.
We hope to reach out to more Singaporeans and reinforce the theme of "Safe and Secure" which will be exemplified by these operational vehicles of the SAF and the Home Team.
The SAF and Home Team will be featuring their latest operational hardware within the Mobile Column.
These will include the PRIMUS, a 155mm self-propelled howitzer, and the BRONCO, an All Terrain Tracked Carrier.
From the Home Team, Singaporeans will get to see the HAZMAT Support Vehicle and the Mobile Ventilator, both which are newly acquired equipment for use in accidents that involve hazardous materials.
After City Hall, the three columns of vehicles will make their way through numerous town centres before arriving at the three Celebration@Heartlands locations of Jurong East, Yishun and Tampines.
At each of these locations, heartlanders will be treated to a dynamic display of the operational capabilities of the vehicles when these vehicles perform their operational actions.
To keep the heartlanders informed on exact locations of the travelling columns, the SAF will be deploying a Position Tracking System.
With this system, Singaporeans at the three Celebration@Heartlands locations can keep abreast with the real-time locations of the vehicle columns when they are making their way towards them.
Other Singaporeans who are watching the live telecast in their homes can also log onto the internet to find out when the mobile columns would be passing by their homes so they can catch a glimpse of the columns.
