Calling all
music lovers! Catch a glimpse of Singapore¡¯s growing arts scene at
Prelude, a free piano concert to be held on 4 April 2006 at
the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).
Aimed to
increase public awareness of local music education, this concert will
showcase the talents of promising young pianists in Singapore. Whether
one desires to get more acquainted with the music scene or simply to
enjoy a delightful musical evening, this performance is not to be
missed. Listeners will also be able to enjoy the fine acoustics of
the Lee Foundation Theatre at NAFA Campus 3.
Performers
include top final-year students and upcoming junior talents, many of
whom are under scholarships and have won accolades in competitions such
as the National Piano & Violin Competition. They will be playing
representative works of well-known composers, including Bach and
Beethoven, as well as interesting less-heard pieces like Ganz¡¯s Grand
Galop de Concert for six hands and Tchaikovsky¡¯s Doumka.
Watch out for the dazzling virtuosic display in Liszt¡¯s Hungarian
Rhapsodies and be astounded by the ferocious opening movement of
Brahms¡¯ Sonata No.2 in f# minor. With such a range of musical
expressions, this concert will surely provide the audience with the
necessary ingredients to spice up their regular week.
Says Mr
Richard Adams, Head of the NAFA Music Department: "We have many talented
piano students and it is important to share their joy of music with the
community."
